The Block

All of the natural ornamental stones are quarried and processed into useable ornamental building materials. So firstly, we need quarry and get the block, all of processes start from here.
Then we can start a stone trip, we will introduce the classification of natural ornamental stones followed by the subject of quarrying, such as marble, granite, slate, sandstone limestone, travertine, onyx. Quarry types relate to the following three factors: form, geo-morphological location and excavation method.
Blocks are generally classified into four types - square block, semi-square block, shapeless block and boulder block. Square block is usually in rectangular shape and is the best product of the quarry in terms of shapes.
It is the most valuable as it generates little waste and produces large-sized slab. Semi-square block refers to those with sides that are not perfect or complete. Block without clear-cut shapes is called shapeless block and values the least. Boulder block is extracted as its original boulder shape.
The last step is to transport the quarried blocks by heavy–duty machinery. Commonly-used facilities in transporting or moving the blocks are as follows: wheel shovel, derrick and tripod.
Then we can turn to production flows. Firstly, we select blocks. The block quality determines the quality of final products. Then we will cut a block into slabs, grind, resin its surface and reinforce the stone back with nets. The next is finishing surface. The common finishing methods include polishing, honing, sandblasting, bush hammering, flaming, brushing, tumbling, acid-washing, chiseling etc.
And the following is to cut-to-size, finish, cut-to-size panel, pack and stock then to deliver to customer. That is an important application of slab.

That’s a block trip, where they are coming and going. We are on this trip in cycle, and it is enjoyable.
