Among several key points for designing catalog, color plays a very important role. It creates atmosphere, reinforces the theme, and strengthens visual shock, and catches the people’s attention and emotional reaction directly. On the other hand, it can deeply reveal the personality characteristics of image and theme, reinforce perception of dynamics, leave a deep impression on people, and give people the enjoyment of beauty while conveying information.
The color design of catalog should start from the system point of view and pay attention to the unification overall of different key points color relationship in order to form the basic tone to fully demonstrate the theme content. The design should also consider the relationship between the comparison and adjustment in the color factors such as lightness, hue, purity etc. The exact grasp of theme’s main tone of the designer will help the readers to form a whole impression and have a better understanding of theme.
In the designing of our company catalog, we use color rules like the symbolic colors of different modelings and materials, the association and symbolize of colors to enhance the transmit result of different materials. We usually performance the different materials in different colors which feel consistent. For example, white marble, Hanlong ash, etc. And same categories can be divided into smaller ones due to their uses and features. For some white materials such as white marble, sweet white, generally we choose a higher purity and clean feeling color to present, of which the gray, purple, orange, brown, etc can express the feel of fashion, elegant etc feelings.
We should pay attention to not only the typical universal performance, but also the unique character. If the adopted color are tend to be same, we will lost the fresh visual impact. It needs us to break the limit of different rules or practice of using color, and needs us dare to explore according to the difference among the styles and materials of products.
