The idea of the lantern pattern comes from Chinese traditional lanterns. In Chinese culture, the lantern symbolizes a festive attitude, happiness, and completeness. Lanterns in China can date back to the Western Han Dynasty, which was almost 1800 years ago. People hung up the red lantern on the side of a gate during the Lantern Festival, and also in rooms to make the house full of joy and festivity. In later developments, lanterns have been processed into many different delicate designs and colors through the use of different materials, such as palace lanterns, gauze lanterns, etc. Today, the lantern shape has been used for many products. Lantern mosaics are one of them. Lantern mosaics means joy and a festive atmosphere, too.
Have you been touched by a lantern mosaic?
